Hello, and welcome to my last log for my internship at Titan!
It’s been an extremely quick but rewarding past eight weeks at the company as there is a never-ending amount of new projects (paired with a couple of cups of iced coffee or tea lattes, a majority of the time). Working as a part of the Business Innovation team has proven to be a wonderful experience as well. All of my colleagues on the team have been so encouraging and helpful despite my minimal (non-existent, actually) experience in consulting and recruitment!
To mention a few of the highlights of my experience, I would have to mention the end-of-week meetings that take place every Friday. I usually attend two: one for Business Innovation, and one for the entire company. The Business Innovation meeting usually includes an agenda of going over the week’s wins, as well as what each team member has been working on and what they may need help with (such as finding a good fit for a client’s open position). After this meeting, the company-wide meeting takes place at the end of the day with an abundance of drinks and snacks. It is a well-earned time to wind down and discuss the collaborations, learnings, and highlights from each team over the past week, in addition to any successful placements that have been made. Both of these provide a comfortable setting to chat with colleagues. After those meetings are finished, everyone can either hang out with each other for a little bit longer, go back to working at their desks, or get a headstart on the weekend and head home early.
Speaking of getting on the train and transportation, my daily commute has become a familiar one after these eight weeks. However, due to my commute on the Saikyo-sen, it is not uncommon for trains to be delayed frequently, resulting in a sudden jog to the train station and to the office some days. However, it has proven useful sometimes, especially when I am running behind on time in the morning or leave the office later! Regardless, I will always appreciate being able to wait for a train and easily navigate myself around Tokyo with the help of Google Maps and an IC card. The trains are something I will greatly miss after I return to the U.S.A. as my home city does not have great public transportation. Back to driving a car everywhere I need to go! 🙂
With this last log comes my last cafe recommendations. This time I would like to recommend two locations, with the first one being COFFEE EBISU. Located only a two-minute walk from Ebisu Station (and an eight-minute walk from the Yebisu Garden Place Tower), the cafe offers multiple different drinks options, ranging from espresso and coffee cocktails to tea and kids drinks. In addition, they also have specialty imported coffee that ranges in flavors, such as Kenya’s coffee beans with notes of brown sugar, dark cherry, and orange peel. If you’re feeling peckish and looking for something to eat, they also offer a small selection of fresh sandwiches and pastry items. When I visited, I decided to keep it simple and order an iced honey (ハチミツ) latte; the espresso had a pleasant flavor with no acidity and paired extremely well with the honey.
In addition to this location, I also wanted to quickly recommend the Starbucks Reserve located in Meguro. I visited this cafe on my day off, and the experience proved to be wonderful, from the friendly staff to the unique drinks and baked goods. There was an abundance of drink options, with each floor providing their own specialty of coffee, tea, or alcohol. I chose to enjoy an iced caramel cashew latte with lemon pound cake, and it did not disappoint! Additionally, as I explored the different floors, I found myself in the tea section, which was home to many different flavors and blends. The most interesting flavors that stood out to me were raspberry lime, strawberry mint oolong, and citrus lavender sage. After much contemplation and a few samples, I settled upon a pineapple tea to bring back to my host parents and my American family. Both cafes were a wonderful experience with unique offerings.
Overall, my experience at Titan Innovation (and living in Japan) for two months this summer is one that I will always look back on with happy memories! Whether it was organizing candidates in the company database or having 15-second hallway conversations with my colleagues, there is much that I will miss as I close out my time here. But there is also so much that I have learned that I can apply to my future endeavors.
Thank you for reading my three-part log of my internship experience here at Titan Business Innovation. And lastly, to everyone at Titan Consulting, thank you for making my internship such a positive one. It was a pleasure working with you all. Perhaps we will cross paths again in the future – but for now, I will see you later!
Best regards,
